WTL'S Recommended Parasite Prevention, Inoculations, & DeWorming Protocols

Dec, 2012 - "After many months of deliberation on my part and above and beyond patience on Walk The Line's part, our family adopted a most beautiful 1-1/2 y/o female pug, Mia. She has become the perfect, loving companion to our 6 y/o male pug w/ special needs, whom we love dearly. As soon as Mia came into our home, the two of them were instant pals. Walk The Line patiently guided me through the process of trying to figure out which puppy or adult dog would be a suitable companion for Chulo. Since having a rescue pug that was poorly bred and riddled with problems and loving the pug breed, I was determined to find a pug that was bred for excellence in every possible way, and I found that with Walk The Line. Our Mia is not only the most beautiful pug, but she is the picture of health and very intelligent."
Thank you Walk The Line family for our little Mia. Jeanne & Tony Matos
Couldn't be more pleased...

ABBR: WTL - Walk The Line Pug Ranch
DVM - Doctor of Veterinary Medicine
          PAO - Pug Adoptive Owner

This Page Is Dedicated To Present Primarily To Our "Adoptive Parents" a basic recommended platform of Parasite Prevention, Inoculation, & DeWorming Protocols... These protocols which we have based primarily on the current standard (AAHA) & (AVMA) guidelines... However as with many things in life, there remains great controversy in the Vetting Industry as to the many pros, cons, controversies as to whether & when to, or not to provide certain drugs or vaccines or therapies, etc. as to the prevention or treatment potentially being worse than the ailment... Specifically any drugs that are outside of the Standard Recommended Core such as Leptospirosis vaccine and Coronavirus vaccine, Bordetella vaccine, Heartworm preventatives, Lyme Disease preventatives, etc... WTL has set forth a basic general platform, based on our 17 years of diligent studies, many hundreds of own experiences working with all ages of Pugs, many experiences working along side our own various privately hired Vet techs and DVM'S along the way, all adjoined with the invaluable wide spectrum of knowledge base provided us by our team of Mentors consisting of private family (described below) and also those that are or were at one time actively engaged in some aspect of Veterinary Medicine...

With each Pug Adoption Applicant we start out with the base WTL recommended protocol... Whom else other than WTL to date, is better qualified to prepare your/our Pug Pups initial Care Protocol, familiar, and learned with your potential new Pug Pups Heritage, Genetics, Breeding, Whelping, Historical General Care Needs, Vetting History, Other various Specifics, Etc??? The simple answer is No One, including with all due respect, any potentially higher learned Veterinary Professional whom may be well learned in the Pug Breed & Veterinary Medicine, however to date knows absolutely nothing about the specifics of your particular potential new Pug Pup!!!

Since many of these controversial final decisions to be made in the start up Pug Care Protocol must be finally determined case specific in regards to the Geography and the life style, etc. of every potential new PAO, in addition to consideration for the case specific practiced protocols of the new PAO'S own private hired (DVM'S), WTL will orchestrate through the potential new PAO, a (3) way Communications at some point while processing your adoption application, in order to mutually discuss & establish with you and your own private (DVM) the best appropriate case specific protocol for your potential Pug, prior to Pug Adoption Application Approval... With all due respect, this will not be discussed by WTL with your (DVM'S) secretary, the office mgr., a Vet technician, etc., only with your primary (DVM)!!! It is a part of your responsibility as a potential new PAO, and your own private hired primary (DVM'S) to provide Pug this small portion of your time/s initially, which will establish the basic post adoption start up & barring any troubles/required changes going forward, an ongoing proper Health Care platform which will fully affect the determination of the Health quality and longevity for the rest of Pug's WHOLE LIFE!!! Furthermore, if you may have been a previous, or are a current Pet/Pug owner, and have never been provided and explained a similar type care platform for your Animal/s by your (DVM), then you should have been, and it should also be provided you Species and Breed specific, not generic one size fits all!!! This said, if this herein posted WTL policy of establishing a pre-adoption (3 way) agreed to Pug care Protocol, is not acceptable to you as a potential new PAO and/or your (DVM'S), then please respectfully disengage WTL immediately and take your Pug search elsewhere because your Pug adoption with WTL will never come to fruition...
The initial Pug recommended Health Care platform program herein which has been developed and authored by by WTL kind of forces the Breeder, the post Pug adoption Vet Care Provider, and the new PAO into working together as a team for the best benefit of the Pug, WTL feels confident that our program will be a dramatic improvement in the previously uncoordinated Professional Breeding & Vetting Practices for all that are involved in to stand up, take proper responsibility for what Animals that Breeders are Breeding, take proper responsibility for what Animals that Pet Care Providers (DVM'S) are being paid to cared for, and finally for Pet Owners to be better educated into providing the proper care            responsibility that goes along with their decision to adopt or purchase an Animal... Any of the above type individuals or organizations that would irresponsibly not want to participate or set forth the effort in such a Pet Care type program of sorts, should not be in the Professional Pet Industry or a Pet Owner, period...
Now presumably all moving forward, this adjoined "Pug Care Team" shall then afterwards have established an initial adjoined road map and set forth to provide the Pug with the best chance of having a long, healthy, happy life and being able to take advantage of and not to throw away the opportunity for a Healthy long life that Pug has been provided due to the quality of which Pug has been Bred and the huge amount of hours spent by WTL in Breeding, Whelping, Rearing, Socializing, & all around properly preparing Pug for having a good life...

WTL as part of any Pug Puppy adoption will subsequently provide this "Adjoined Pug Care Protocol" along with all of the additional Comprehensive Pug Health & General Care Information that we standardly provide, in a printed hard copy & via email fashion to the new PAO within our Comprehensive Pug Adoption Health Care Guide... From post adoption going forward, you the new Pug Adoptive Parent and your own privately hired (DVM/S) will go forward accordingly and of course be required to and have the option to potentially deviate from the pre-adoption agreed to protocol, should there ever be presented a potentially substantial reason with your case specific Pug to do so... WTL cannot enforce this initial mutually agreed to protocol post adoption nor be the decision maker of any potential changes to it going forward...  This would be left up to the new PAO and your (DVM'S), however our "Free Assistance, Advice, &/or Opinion" always remains available & is encouraged to be called upon...
DISCLAIMER: However, should you the new PAO &/or your (DVM'S) make any post adoption changes to the Initial Pre-Adoption Agreed To Pug Care Protocol without the consent of WTL (particularly non emergency related changes), then you would do so at your own discretion and any WTL originally provided Pug Health Guarantee or Congenital Health Guarantee shall potentially become either partially or wholly null & void depending on reasons given per case specific circumstance...
With an agreed to "Adjoined Pug Care Team Protocol" in place as described above, WTL will now be offering a (5) year Pug Congenital Defect Health Guarantee with all of our Pug pups as a show of the faith we have in our Pugs Premium Bred Health Quality... However, any requested and agreed to changes that are made from the original WTL recommended Pre-Adoption Pug Care Protocol may reduce or perhaps even eliminate our ability to provide the new PAO with a health guarantee, case specific... If the suggested/requested Pre-Adoption changes to the original AAHA guide lined & recommended WTL Pug Care Basic Protocol are so unreasonable as to be not acceptable to WTL,
then solely at our discretion the Adoption Application shall be denied in it's entirety
"For Cause"...

All of our work is always focused on maintaining the preservation of The Original Ancient Chinese Pure Breed Pug Heritage... Our Pug Genetics studies focus is on the practice of promoting the Healthy Immune Sufficient desired characteristics that are inherit within the Ancient Pure Breed Pug DNA, while eliminating the less desirable frailties that are now within the Pug Breed which have developed over the years from those whom carelessly Breed Mixes, Mutts, Hybrids, & Puppy Mill for profit... Our Pug Pups Are of a Premium Quality due to our proper Breeder DNA match ups, our "Breeding Method", the incredible amount of time that we spend with our litters and Dams post birth in feeding, playing, socializing, etc... We do not "Breed In" and we do not "Breed Out" in order to ensure to keep our Blood Lines clean, pure, disease free, and genetically healthy & stable... Once properly Bred, Weaned, & Medically, Mentally & Physically prepared, our Pug pups are then readied & offered selectively to only qualifying loving family homes as Companions and/or already trained by us and offered to qualifying homes as Human Therapy Dogs

These guidelines WTL can only recommend as a standard basic Pug (Small) Breed Specific Regimen... Your own hired (DVM’S) should always be consulted & advise you when/how/if need be (for cause) to properly/safely deviate from the WTL recommended regimen, based on their own Veterinary training, experience, & practiced regimen while also taking into consideration the case specific Health Record, Immunization Reactions History of your specific Pug in addition to the Geographical related prevalence  of the many various Disease & Pests prevention requirements of your specific Pugs to be environment where you reside...

Titers tests for your specific pup which you can ask your own (DVM) about, can also be very helpful prior to any Vaccinations in best being able to determine potentially when & how to deviate from the WTL standard recommended

Pug (Small Breed Specific) Regimen!!!

We “Titer Test” our Dams normally appx (6 weeks) post whelping… Based on our average history of High Maternal Antibodies still being present at that time, we do not ever begin our puppy inoculation regimen prior to (8 weeks) of age…

In particular Leptospirosis Bacteria Vaccines, Coronavirus Vaccines, Bordetella Vaccines, Lyme Disease Vaccines, Giardia Vaccines, Canine Adenovirus-1 (CAV-1 MLV and Killed) Vaccines, Canine Parvovirus (CPV-2 Killed) Vaccines, Canine Adenovirus-2 (CAV-2 Killed or MLV-Topical) Vaccines, Any/All other Exotic Vaccines, are generally recommended against (some more than others), other than for case specific potentially prevalent highly infected Endemic Regional Or Case Specific Geographical Home Location Environments… These are not generally recognized by the (AAHA) as Canine Core Bacteria or Virus Vaccination Protocol and are generally left up to use only if recommended by your own privately chosen (DVM'S) for case specific "Substantiated Reasonable cause"... Leptospirosis Vaccine presents the highest risk of anaphylactic shock reactions in small breed dogs and is also recently recognized as being a certain higher percentage risk for the potential of triggering IMHA and other Immune system destruction disorders, Malignant Cancers, Blindness, Renal Failure, Mast Cell Tumors, Etc.. Also being the catalyst of a potentially life long disability or eminent death… Although Leptospirosis is known to be Zootonic, It is quite easily preventable/curable with a simple Routine Regimen of Abstinence from the Source, General Household Hygiene, & Early Recognition... As far as ‘Heartworm Preventatives”, the AAHA is cautiously proactive, however WTL is a strong advocate of quarterly “Heartworm Tests” in lieu of an easily avoidable regimental dose of what is unquestionably a low dose toxin to your Pug, saying it lightly!!! A monthly regimental Dose of a Basic Parasite De-Wormer such as Pyrantel Paomate & Praziquantel which is standard manufactured in generally safe over the counter products such as the Canine De-Wormer product "D-Worm", is strongly WTL recommended, this however does Not contain any Heartworm Preventatives...

You may say “all of this can possibly be the result of one simple vaccination”, the answer unfortunately is quite simply YES!!!

BASE PROTOCOL - CANINE STANDARD CORE VIRUSES VACCINES: Core Virus Vaccinations Are Governed By Veterinary Medicine, Not By Law…    WTL Recommends A DAPP Combo Vaccine, The Particular Brand That We Have Had A Very Good History With Is Nobivac; Canine (1-DAPPv) By Intervet...  These Would Include Your Canine Parvovirus (CPV-S Modified Live Only); Canine Distemper (CDV Either Modified Live or Recombinant); Canine Adenovirus (CAV-2 Modified Live Only); +/- Canine Parainfluenza (CPIV);

(1st) DHPP Combo Inoculation At (8 Weeks Of Age)

(2nd) DHPP Combo Inoculation At (12 Weeks Of Age)

(3rd) DHPP Combo Inoculation At (16 Weeks Of Age)

(4th) DHPP Combo Inoculation At (1 Year From The Last Or At Appx 16 Months Of Age)

(5th) DHPP Combo Inoculation At (3 Years From The Last Or At Appx 52 Months Of Age Or Tentatively Longer, ***** See Note Below)

***** It Is Always Strongly Recommended, Especially After Your Pug Has Received The First (4) Inoculations Above, To Have Your Private Chosen (DVM'S) Perform Titer tests On Your Pug For The Core Vaccine Viruses Listed Above... That Said, At Any Time From Inoculation #4 Above Going Forward, If Your Pugs Immunity To The Core Viruses Tests Results Are Sufficiently High, Then It Is Strongly Suggested To Consult With Your Private Chosen (DVM'S) In Order To Potentially Widen The Gap Between Any Core Inoculations From This point Forward... The Older Your Pug Gets, The More The Need For The Safety Requirement Of Titer Testing!!!

(6th) DHPP Combo Inoculation At (3 Years From The Last Or At Appx 88 Months Of Age Or Tentatively Longer, ***** See Note Above)

(7th) DHPP Combo Inoculation At (3 Years From The Last Or At Appx 124 Months Of Age Or Tentatively Longer, ***** See Note Above)

(8th) DHPP Combo Inoculation At (3 Years From The Last Or At Appx 150 Months Of Age Or Tentatively longer) At This Age Of Pugs Life (At Any Time Beyond The Actual Date Of Inoculation #7 Above), It Is Highly Recommended To Discontinue With Any Core Vaccinations Unless You Absolutely Have Titer Tests Done And Your Private Chosen (DVM'S) Present You With A Case Specific Very Good Health Or Immune Deficient Reason To Continue With Any Inoculations

Clinical Note: Beware Of The Following Vaccines Which Are Not Still Common But Still Found Out There... These Were At One Time Recognized As Being A Part Of The Standard AAHA Canine Core Vaccination Protocol < However These Are Now Out Dated And Recognized As Being Either Not As Safe Or Not As Effective As The More Modern AAHA Protocol As Is Described Just Above...
Not Recommended: Canine Adenovirus-1 (CAV-1 MLV and Killed) Vaccines, Not Recommended Canine Parvovirus (CPV-2 Killed) Vaccines, Not Recommended Canine Adenovirus-2 (CAV-2 Killed or MLV-Topical) Vaccines,

BASE PROTOCOL - CORE RABIES VIRUS VACCINE: Rabies Vaccinations Are Governed First By Your State & Local Laws, & Secondarily By Veterinary Medicine… Also Note That Rabies Virus Is Zoonotic (Can Migrate Between Species, IE: Canine To Human)

The NYS Guidelines Are As follows And The NYS Rabies Fact Sheet Is Also Attached Below;

The 1st Date Due required by NYS Law is by 4 Months of Age… We very strongly recommend not to inoculate for the Rabies prevention on the same date as the DAPPv inoculations, as this provides a critically important & distinguishable additional safety guard against Anaphylactic Shock, Allergic, or other adverse Immune System Reaction… The 2nd rabies Inoculation is due by NYS Law 1 Year Past The 1st Inoculation, or at 16 Months of Age… The 3rd Rabies Inoculation is due by NYS Law 3 years Past The 2nd Inoculation, or at 52 Months of Age… All Subsequent Rabies Inoculations are Due Every 3 Years Past The 3rd Inoculation, for life unless your Pug suffers a severe allergic reaction, (and survives), then your (DVM’S) can assist you in applying for a request with your State to potentially nullify the future requirement of any Rabies Inoculations… Your State may grant it, they may not, each case is specific…

(1st) Rabies Inoculation At (4 Months Of Age)

(2nd) Rabies Inoculation At (1 Year Since The Last Or At Appx 16 Months Of Age)

(3rd) Rabies Inoculation At (3 Years Since The Last Or At Appx 52 Months Of Age)

And Then At Every (3 Year Intervals For Life)

SECONDARY PROTOCOL - CANINE COMMON KNOWN NON CORE VIRUSES/BACTERIA VACCINES: Non Core Virus Vaccinations Are Also Governed By Veterinary Medicine, Not By Law…  Non Core Vaccinations Are Not Recommended As A Standard Canine Protocol By The “AAHA”, Only To Be Administered At Your Own Privately Chosen (DVM’S) Discretion And Yours, And Only To Be Administered With Caution For Certain High Risk Potential Canine Breeds, Due To Their Typical Activity. IE: Hunting Dogs & Canines That Are In Case Specific Geographical Habitats Or Private Home Or Shelter Environments That Are Considered To Be In “Highly Potentially Prevalent Infected Environments”…

Certain Non Core Vaccinations Are Strongly Recommended Against By The “AAHA”, Even At All!!!

SECONDARY PROTOCOL - NON CORE VIRUS VACCINE; CORONAVIRUS: Not Ever Recommended!!! “AAHA QUOTE - Canine Coronavirus (CCV) Vaccination Is Not Recommended On The Grounds That Infection: (1) Causes Mild Or Subclinical Disease, (2) Generally Occurs In Dogs 6 Wk Of Age And Younger, And (3) Is Typically Self-Limiting”...

The WTL Take On This, The Extremely Low Prevalence Of Confirmed Clinical Cases Adjoined With The Fact That Clinical Disease Rarely Occurs And Is Typically Mild And Self Limiting In An Otherwise Healthy Animal, Heavily Out Weighs Any Need/Requirement For Vaccination… IE; If Your Pug Is Not Already Infected With A Much Higher Risk Core Disease Such As Parvovirus, Then The likelihood Of Ever Contracting Coronavirus Is Highly Unlikely…

Not Ever Recommended Unless PAO’S Private Hired (DVM’S) Present A Case Specific And Well Warranted Reason Such As: An Extreme Infested or Endemic Environment; Case Specific Emergency or Preventative Determination Based On The Pugs Current Health Condition; Etc…

SECONDARY PROTOCOL - NON CORE VIRUS VACCINE; LEPTOSPIROSIS: Highly Ever Recommended In Most Breeds Even By The “AAHA” & Especially Not In Home Bodied Toy Breeds such as Pugs, Only Should Be Considered In A High Risk Infectious Exposure Environment Such As A Hunting Dogs, Or In A Prevalent Rodent Infested Area Or Endemic Geographical Location Such As Tropics, SubTropics, & South East Us As Example…  If/When administered, Should Be Provided As A Single Stand Alone Vaccination Under Closely Vet Monitored Post Inoculation Surveillance (Minimum Of One Hour), Due To It’s High Rate Of Adverse Allergic And Possible Anaphalactic Shock Type Reactions (Particularly In Toy Breeds & Particulary vaccines Manufactured With An Adjuvant)… Leptospirosis Vaccines Now Come Manufactured In Several Ways In Order To Help Alleviate The Potential For Reaction However,  All Versions Still Are A Relatively New Highly Recognized Controversy As To The Vaccine’s High Risk Association With The Potential Cause Of Life Long Disabilities, Disease, & Triggering Immune System Destruction Disorders…  IE:  “IMHA”, Malignant Cancers, Blindness, Renal Failure, Acute Organ Failure, Liver failure, Pancreatitus, Soft Tissue Degeneration, Mast Cell Tumors,  All Of Which Are Potentially A Catalyst Of Either Life Long Disability And/Or Short Or Or Long Term Eminent Death!!!

Clinical Note: Even If You Do Opt For This Vaccination You Are Only Providing Your Pug With A Potential Protection Against The Most (4) Common Serovars (strains) Out of Appx 230 Serovars!!! Lastly The Leptospirosis Vaccination (At Least Many Certain Ones Depending On The Manufacturing Process) Although It Is A “Killed Vaccine Can Potentially Stop The Clinical Signs Of Leptospirosis To The Dog, However Will NOT Stop Infection… A Vaccinated Pet, If Infected With Leptospirosis, Can & Will Shed The Bacteria In The Urine, Hence Thus Vaccinating For Lepto Has The Potential To Create Asymptomatic Carriers”… “Leptospirosiis Vaccination Can & Does Reportedly Potentially Present Sub Clinical Infection To The Vaccination Recipient And Therefore Can Cause Their Urine For A Period Of Time Then after To Be Infected & Shed Therefore having The Potential To Infect Other Humans Or Pets In The Household With Actual Leptospirosis!!! Some Vets May Refute This Last Statement, However As Credible Irrefutable Evidence, WTL Has Posted Above Under The "Dog Place Logo", One Well Renown (DVM’S) Opinion, Patricia Jordan, And Above One Renown Educated Canine Magazine’s Opinion, “Dogs Naturally” Which Is Supported By Renown (DVM’S) & (PHD’S), And Above Under The "ACERLUX Logo" By Dr. Christopher Lee,  ETC...

The One Heard Of By WTL, Leptospirosis Vaccine Which Was Only First Introduced In April, 2016 That Does Not have An Adjuvant & Which Reportedly Helps Prevent Shedding the Bacteria Is Recombitek c8 by Merial… However This Has Another Pitfall As It Is A Combo Vaccination That Is Mixed With The Standard Core Virus Vaccines… Multiple All In One Soup Vaccines Should Typically Always Be Avoided As They Create The Highest Risk Of Anaphylactic Shock And Various Other Reactions And Should There Be A Reaction, One Can Only Guess Which Of The Many Ingredients Was The Catalyst.

In The Unlikely Event (Considering The Above), That The Need For Leptospirosis Vaccine In Your Pug Can Be Substantiated By Your Local (DVM’S), It Should Be Administered Only As To The Recommended Following Regimen:   Pups ist Dose @ Minimum Of 6 Months Of Age, Pups 2nd Dose 2-3 Weeks Then after, Pups 3rd And Continued Doses Annually Then after. Do Your Own Diligence!!!

SECONDARY PROTOCOL - NON CORE VIRUS/S VACCINES; BORDETELLA: The AAHA Does Not Make Clear Comment On The Use Of This Vaccine Other Than It Is A Non Core Vaccine "Where Risk Of Exposure Is Sustained"...  "WTL Strongly Recommends Against This Vaccine & To Always Practice Abstinence Of Ever Boarding Or Kenneling Your Pug In A Common Canine Public Shelter/Boarder, For Many Various Reason And Not Only Just To Do With Bordetella…  If You Are A Truly Responsible “Pug Owner” Always Avoid Kennels & Kennel Environments… Find A More Appropriate Friend Or Relative Whom Is Already To Be Familiared/Trained With Your Case Specific Pug In Advance And Therefore Should Be Much Better And Safer capable Of Watching Your Pug For Short Periods Of Time… Hence, The Bordetella vaccines In A Non Canine public Shared Environment Would Not Be Necessary… Furthermore, the Effectiveness Of The Vaccines Efficacy Is Low To Moderate At Best Due To The Wide Spread Quantity Of Bordetella Virus Compared To The Specific Focus Of The Vaccines And Their Administration Route… The Protection Provided Your Pug Post Induction Is Slow To Be Effective, Minimal & Short Lived At Best And The Vaccine Is Commonly Known To Cause Adverse Kennel Cough Type Symptoms To Your Pet… Only Use When A Public Kennel Or Sheltering Is Absolutely Required/Unavoidable With Caution And Only Under Your Own Private (DVM’S) Administration & Supervision…

SECONDARY PROTOCOL – NON CORE LYME DISEASE VACCINE; (TICKS): The AAHA Comment “Where Risk Of Exposure Is Sustained, Dogs Traveling To Or Residing In Lyme Disease Endemic Areas”… WTL Recommends Vaccination With Extreme Caution As A Last Resort, Only In Geographical Areas That Are Proven Statistically To Be Highly Tick Borne Prevalent Or Endemic Infested Such As Woodsy High Grass Areas & Only In Certain Geographical Weather Climates & Only If You Are Of The Type That Will Be Spending A Lot Of Time Outdoors In The Warmer Months With Your Pug Walking, Playing, Exercising Etc. And Especially If In Wooded Areas, Typically Used In Canine Hunting Breeds… A Safer Approach In Lieu Of Vaccination Is A Mid Way Approach And Only To Be Used In Highly Endemic Lyme Disease Prevalent Surroundings Is To Consider Topical's Or Safely Attached Tick Deterrents To Your Pugs Harness (Preferably Not Around Pugs Neck) And Only To Be Used On Days That You Are To Be Frequenting The Outdoors In The Endemic Warmer Months… However These Must Also Be Cautioned With Pugs That Fuss And Lick Their Coats And The Topical's Known Of Do All Enter The Bloodstream Of Your Pug!!! Your Own Private (DVM) Has The Best Advice In Regards To Most Appropriate Potential Safe/Effective Topical Type Products On The Current Market And Also Has The  Current Statistics Within Your Geographical Area In Order To Best Determine The Potential Risk Of Exposure In Accord With Your Lifestyle & Pugs Outdoors Time Spent, Etc...

WTL Strongly Recommends As The Best Approach, A Similar Approach As To That Of Heartworm Prevention, Which Is Practice Abstinence From The Source & In Lieu Of Any Regimental Vaccination Or Drug/s Therapy, Instead Perform A Once Every 4 Months Blood Test... """The traditional blood tests for diagnosing Lyme disease have replaced by two new tests called the C6 Test and Quant C6 test. The C6 test is a preliminary blood test that detects antibodies against a very specific protein called “C6”. This protein is unique to the Borrelia bacteria, and the presence of antibodies to C6 suggests active Lyme infection. The C6 antibodies can be detected three to five weeks after a dog is bitten by an infected tick, and may be found in the blood stream even before the dog shows signs of illness. The C6 test is offered as part of a package of tests that looks for other tick-borne diseases. The test can be done by your veterinarian in-clinic or the blood sample can be sent to the laboratory for testing."""

NO KNOWN PROTOCOL – GIARDIA VACCINE; (INTESTINAL PARASITES): While No AAHA Input Or Comment Can Be Found In Regard To This Intestinal Parasite, WTL’S General Comment Is That It Is Not Generally Recommended In A Typical Pugs Environment… Contraction Is Via Ingestion Of Another Infected Animal/s Feces… Clinical Note: Giardia Is Yet Another Zootonic Disease And Commonly Infects Humans, Canines, Other Species, That Are Living In Close Held Filthy Feces Contaminated Conditions And Contaminated From infected Feces Water sources… Yet Another Reason To Avoid Kenneling Or Unmonitored Socialization Of Your Pug With Other Animals And Abstinence From Public/Wild Water Sources And All Species Feces…

From ACERLUX Dr. Christopher Lee “““Giardia is a protozoal parasite that affects many mammals including dogs, cats and humans. While the strain (for Giardia, called Molecular Assemblages) that affect humans is usually not the molecular assemblage seen in dogs, canine Giardiasis can be transfered to humans.

Why is it Not Recommended: "The vaccine may prevent oocyst shedding but does not prevent infection. There is insufficient data to warrant routine use of this vaccine. Infection in puppies and kittens is often sublinical. Most animal strains of Giardia duodenalis are not infective to an immunocompetent human host."

Possible Reasons to Use it: It can reduce oocyst (the infective form) shedding. For some pets thar are re-self-infecting or infecting other, this vaccine may help aid with the treatment of disease. Some pets at high risk of exposure or who have had severe clinical effects from Giardia (severe bloody diarrhea) may benefit from this vaccine”””.

PARASITES PREVENTIONS – HEARTWORM; – (MOSQUITOS):  The Questionable Majority Consensus In The Drug Manufacturers Driven World Of Veterinary Medicine, Is That Heartworm Preventatives (Which Are Low Doseage Toxins) Outweigh The Risk Of Potential Devastating Heartworm Disease… Of Course These Folks Primary Concern Is Lining Their Pockets According To Hap Hazard Unreliable Statistics And Not The Specific Long Term Immune System Destruction That Such Regimental Toxins Will Most Definitely Toll On Your Pugs Life, Without A Doubt!!!

WTL Is Quite Adamantly Against Continual Regimental Heartworm Prevention's…  Without A WTL Dissertation Here, Please See The “Healthy Pets” Web Site Link Article Above Authored By  Dr. Becker, And The “Dogs Naturally” Web Site Link Articles Posted Above...

Which Shares The WTL Opinion That “A Much Better/Safer/Healthier Alternative To Every Month Heartworm Preventatives Is A (3) Times Per Year Heartworm Test, Instead”!!! Then Should Your Pug Ever Test Positive For Heartworm They Would Only Be In The Larvae Stages And Easily Treatable With The Same Heartwom Preventatives, But Only If It Ever Becomes Necessary And Not As A Life Long Regimental Low Dose Poison To Your Pug!!!

Heartworm Preventatives Should Only Ever Be Considered In Highly Mosquito Prevalent Or Endemic Infested Geographical Locations And Only If Your Pug Is To Frequent The Outdoors Along With You In The Early Morning And Later Afternoon/Evenings During Warmer Months… According To The Prevalent Mosquito Map In The United States, There Are Only (13) States to Be Highly Concerned… This Map Is Provided In The “Mercola”& “Dogs Naturally” Web Site Link Article Posted Above (None Of Which Are Located In The Northeast States Of The Continental US)…

Only In Such Case That Preventatives Are The Only Safe Option According To Your Own Private Hired (DVM’S) Higher Percentages Opinion Of Your Case Specific Local Geographical Being In Prevalent Heartworm Endemic Conditions,  Should Heartworm Monthly Regimen Preventatives Ever Be Considered… If And When So, Preventatives Should Tentatively Begin Only After The Puppy Standard Core Vaccination Protocol Has Been Completed (Not Intermingled) And No Sooner Than The Age Of (4) Months Old…

PARASITES PREVENTIONS - CANINE BASIC DEWORMING: WTL Performs A Very Aggressive Early Life Stages De-worm Regimen On All Of Our Pug Puppies From Appx. (4 Weeks) Of Age Through Appx. (16 Weeks) Of Age, Normally At Every 2 Week Intervals…. We Use

A Weight Proper Dose Of Pyrantel Paomate Which Rids The Pups Of Any Potential For The 2 Most Common Canine Worm Parasites: Roundworm & Hookworm... At Appx. (8 Weeks) Of Age, In Lieu Of The Pryantel Paomate We Provide The Pups With A Weight Proper Dose Of Panacure In A 3 Consecutive Day Regimen, Which Rids The Pups Of Any Potential For The Next 2 Most Common Worm Parasites: Tapeworm & Whipworm... Hence This Standard Puppy Parasite De-worm Regimen Rids The Pups Of Any Potential For The 4 Most Common Canine Worm Parasites: Roundworm; Hookworm; Tapeworm; Whipworm...

After (4 Months Of Age) We Use A Weight Proper Dose Of Pyrantel Paomate As An Ongoing Preventative Protocol, Administered Once Per Every Month For Life…  A Good Known To Be safe Over The Counter Substitute For Pug Owners Is A Product Called "PRO-WORMER-2", And An Over The Internet Counter Source Is Dr. Fosters, Web Link Below...

Secondarily Starting At (12 Months Of Age) We Use A Weight Proper Dose Of “D-Worm Combo” (Pyrantel Paomate/Praziquantel) Broad Spectrum Canine De-Wormer, As An Ongoing "Clean Out' Preventative Protocol, Administered Once Annually Primarily As A Tapeworm "Clean Out"... In Flea Prone Or Rodent Activity Environments, Suggested Use Would Be Twice Annually, Once Every (6 Months)... DO NOT USE At The Same Time As With Any Other De-Wormer Such As The Pyrantel Paomate Listed Above, Skip That Dose... We Have Safely Used This Product For Years & Recommend This Clean Out Therapy Only To Ensure Pug Owners That May Not Be Alert To Specifically Devastating Tape Worm Symptoms, Just As A Prevention Although The Main Ingredients Main Use "Praziquantel", Is More Commonly Used To Treat An "Already Confirmed Tape Worm Infestation"... This Product may Be Used As Early As (6 Months Of Age) With An Already Confirmed Tape Worm Infestation, Consult Your (DVM)... Neither Of The Above De-Worm Regimens Include Any Heartworm Prevention.

Lastly But Not Least, It Is Highly Recommended That You Have Your Own Private (DVM) Perform A Fecal Sample At Every (6 Month Intervals) In Conjunction With Your Quarterly Recommended Heartworm & Lyme Disease Blood Tests!!! In The Scenario Of A Positive parasite Test Result Your (DVM) Will Up And/Or Adjust The Standard Prevention Regimen For A Short Term Or Perhaps Even Just One Dose, case specific...

In the case of a puppy, WTL’S recommended spay/neuter time frame is to be accomplished between the ages of 6 months to 9 months, no later than age 9 months or no later than (30) days post adoption, in the case of a Pug that is being adopted at the already appx. Age of 9 months… A) If there is a clinical or health reason that your chosen Vet cannot or will not perform the spay/neuter during this time frame;  and/or if there is a clinical or health reason found by your private chosen Veterinarian that a spay/neuter is potentially to be never safely able to be performed on your Pug, then again said proof must be submitted to WTL in writing and then properly verified by one of the various WTL licensed Veterinarians (if need be) prior to our acceptance… WTL then reserves the right to contact your Veterinarian & further discuss this matter and establish acceptable grounds… If your chosen Veterinarians spay/neuter time frame practiced protocols are slightly different than our requested (6-9 month old time frame), they MAY be considered to be acceptable only after an explanation by your Veterinarian, and only if within a reasonably similar time frame…

In the case of a still intact Pug that when adopted is already over the age of 9 months there will be 2 spay/neuter options, case specific: The first being that WTL have the spay/neuter performed prior to the adoption by one of our licensed NYS Veterinarians, as further explained in our contract/s above at our standard fee of $275.00… The second being that the PAO have your chosen Veterinarian perform the spay/neuter within (30) days post adoption… All other particulars are the same as the paragraph directly above regarding a puppy’s spay/neuter requirements…
