"PUGS OF DISTINCTION" AMERICAN HOME OF THE ORIGINAL ANCIENT CHINESE PUREBREED PUG HERITAGE PRESERVATIONISTS

~ Walk The Line's Adult Pugs Adoption Program ~

I got my wtl pup about 2 months ago in September, 2016 and I'm extremely satisfied! I love my pup, he has an excellent build and is clearly well bred and extremely healthy. WTL are extremely friendly, helpful and resourceful and I'm so glad I got to adopt a pug from them. They're clearly dedicated to their dogs and, unlike so many other breeders, are obviously not just in it for the money. They really care about their pups and the homes they go to. Their pups are very healthy and well bred and overall a perfect friend for any family.
happy puppy mom!

What’s the difference between an Emotional Support Animal (ESA) and a Service Dog?

Emotional Support Animals (ESA) are animals that provide therapeutic benefits to their owner through affection and companionship. A Service Dog is specially trained to perform a task to help someone with a disability. A seeing eye dog is one example of a Service Dog. Unlike a Service Dog, an emotional support animal does not need specialized training to handle a task. Further, Emotional Support Animals come in different breeds and animal types and are not just limited to dogs, while Service Animals are either dogs or mini horses.

Walk The Line Pug Ranch has been working with Pure Breed Pugs since the year "2000".

We avidly study Pug Genetics, DNA, Health Care, Veterinary Medicine, Breeding, Nutrition, Training, Socialism, etc. We apply our knowledge particularly in the areas of Breeding, Health Care, Training, & Private Rescue, as part of a daily routine in our overall effort to preserve & improve the Pure Pug Breed & in order to provide Healthy Pugs for loving family household companions & therapy dogs.

This all being said, we work with Pugs of all ages. As a result, we normally have in addition to our up to (3) annual premium bred new Pug litters, three other categories of Pugs in small quantities available for household companion adoption..

ADOLESCENTS, ADULTS, & sometimes PRIVATE RESCUE PUGS.

A description of each is as follows:

-------------------------------------------------------------------

ADOLESCENTS:                                                                                                 Since we breed for Pug puppies & also train certain adolescents as Therapy dogs for handicapped & elderly people, we are always picking certain pups from our litters to be potentially groomed as they get aged appropriate for either one of our own future breeders or a therapy dog. Since these pups have to be picked out at a very young age, we can only make our best educated guess based on many factors which ones will possess the prerequisites that are required when they become of age, (12) months to begin therapy dog training & (30) months or after 4th-5th Estrus, to begin Breeding. Sometimes when the pups come of appropriate age or even before, although the pups are perfectly healthy for household companions, they are lacking certain things that we responsibly require in order to Train or Breed them. Examples: Size (generally we want our Breeder females minimum of 18# lean weight, maximum 24#) - Attention Span - Mental & Physical Maturity - Overall General Lifetime Health History - Aptitude Test Results For Therapy Dogs (we use the Volhard Puppy Aptitude Test) - Top Physical & Genetics Test Results For Breeders - Etc.

This all being said, Pups that don't end up being 100% appropriate as a Breeder or Therapy dog, but are generally perfectly healthy to be Household Companions, then become available between about the ages of (18) months & (3) years, sometimes sooner, for adoption as loving family Household Companions.

   .

ADULTS:                                                                                                            Again, since we Breed for Pug puppies, at some point the Breeders retire. Other than what our family or circle of Pug friends then adopt, we sometimes have available for public adoption Breeders that have retired, Breeders that never Consumed or Fathered, Breeders that for whatever reason with their first litter did not have a great & healthy experience, etc. If there are any difficulties with either the Dam or her pups during her first litter experience, we don't normally ever Breed them again unless we are certain that the first time around had a definite only one time problem/situation that has been cured. Lastly, assuming that a Dam doesn't have a problematic pregnancy or whelping, we still only Breed a Dam at the most 2-3 times between the age of appx 3 years to 6 years for health benefit. After a healthy Dam has her typical 1-3 litters, then they are normally retired from breeding & spayed for preventative health benefits. Breeding males are also sometimes made available for adoption, either because believe it or not, they really never become appropriate at "their job" or they become over aged to rely on their bodies to genetically best healthily reproduce, which is normally about 6 years.

This all being said, adult Breeders that are generally very healthy, are also sometimes made available for adoption as loving family Household Companions, for any of the above reasons..

PRIVATE RESCUE PUGS:                                                                                     At one of the WTL Private Family Farm Residences, (separate for health & safety from our Pug Breeding & Training Ranch) we maintain a small private Pug Rescue. As part of our standard Pug adoption contract, we guarantee that under most circumstance we will rescue any Pug that we have Bred & adopted out, if the adoptive parents for whatever reason cannot keep the Pug & they have no friends or family that can properly provide for the Pug. Normally this is due to divorce, military deployment, long distance move, career change, etc., usually not really anything to do with the Pug itself. We will after being notified, then take in such a Pug if we are able, or home it temporarily at a prequalified private volunteers residence, take care of any necessary Vetting, General Health Care, & Nutritional needs, etc. & then properly ready him/her for a permanent qualifying re-adoption.

This all being said, under these & certain other special circumstance, we sometimes have Rescue Pugs of various ages & in Generally good health that are made available for re-adoption as loving family Household Companions.

ADOLESCENT & ADULT PUG ADOPTION FEES:

We do not necessarily have hard set adoption fees for Adult Pugs. There are way too many variables with minor existing health conditions, spay/neuter status, age, etc., so every one has to be established case specific. As a general guideline, Adoption fees are normally between $295 - $2,995 which includes of course the Pug, All General Health Care & Vetting UTD, Spayed or Neutered if aged appropriate, etc. However, since whatever the case specific required Vetting preparation costs are is a big cost factor, certain adoption fees can be more, & some can also be less. Rest assured that we will work with you as best as we can in order to best accommodate a timely adoption & cost conserving adoption fee, but you also have to be patient & willing to work with us! We guarantee full disclosure (as with all of our Pug Adoptions) on all health care information, any health conditions, any personality traits or potty habits, etc., that we are aware of..

* ALL FEMALE PUGS OF AGE THAT WE ADOPT, MUST BE EITHER SPAYED PRIOR TO ADOPTION BY ONE OF OUR VETERINARIANS OR A SPAY AGREEMENT MUST BE INCLUDED AS A PART OF THE PUG'S ADOPTION CONTRACT.

This concludes our dissertation on "ADULT PUGS". For further information please contact us, email is best initial contact..
