Private NYS Hobby Pure Breed Pug, Great Pyrenees & Saint Bernard Breeder
American Homestead of the Original Ancient Chinese Purebred Pug Heritage Preservationists & The
Farmstead of Our European Gentle Giants

Walk The Line Pug Ranch (WTL) & Hard Rock Farm (HRF) are not a commercial kennel but a private family’s homestead and farmstead. Our dogs live in a healthy, enriched combined Human and dog family-oriented environment, receiving round-the-clock care, socialization, and love.

Our Family’s Commitment

At our private New York State hobby breeding homestead & farmstead, we are passionately dedicated to the preservation, health, and responsible breeding of three remarkable purebred dog breeds: the ancient Chinese Pug, the majestic Great Pyrenees, and the noble Saint Bernard.

  • Pugs, cherished for their playful and affectionate nature, thrive in our carefully maintained indoor setting.
  • Saint Bernards, renowned for their gentle temperament and protective instincts, are raised to embody strength, kindness, and loyalty.
  • Great Pyrenees, naturally skilled in guarding livestock and families alike, are bred with an emphasis on their ancient working dog heritage.

Whether indoors or on our safe, well-guarded farmstead grounds, our dogs enjoy proper nutrition, exercise, companionship, and top-tier veterinary care beyond routine checkups. Every pup is raised to fit seamlessly into a loving and prepared forever home.

We specialize in the Original Ancient Chinese Purebred Pug, with a mission to preserve and enhance this beloved breed’s heritage.

WTL has successfully applied our well-learned Ancient Chinese Pure Breed Pug Breeding Method, a practice that continuously improves desirable Pug genetics while eliminating the undesirable—resulting in healthier, sturdier Pugs of exemplary quality. Since the year “2000”, Our passionate, studies, practices, and achievements have exceled us into recognition as a responsible Quality Pure Breed Pug Breeder, Caretaker, Therapy Dog Trainer, and Pug Health Care & DNA Expert, while also maintaining the Ongoing Preservation and Enhancement of the Original Ancient Chinese Pure Breed Pug Heritage and the Original Pug Breed Standard…./

This we do, in order to provide a superior quality, healthier and more durable Pug Breed, for the fulfillment of adopting them as Companions into “Pug Loving” Family’s Homes, in order to induce the joyful atmosphere and loving companionship that each and every Pug inevitably brings into any responsible and deserving home…./ ….

Our Expanding Mission

Building on our expertise, WTL remains active in promoting Pure Breed White and Brindle Pugs, developed over 20 years of dedicated genetic study. As part of WTL’s continuous growth, HRF now proudly extends our commitment of responsible breeding and superior health care to Saint Bernard’s and Great Pyrenees, bred with equal dedication to preserving their historical lineage. These majestic breeds known for their intelligence, have their own unique temperament and strengths, making them ideal companions for families, therapy work, and even livestock protection in the case of Great Pyrenees. Just as WTL does with Pugs, HRF focuses on maintaining their original breed characteristics by selective breeding and dedicated health care practices, enhancing their genetics, and ensuring they remain the strong, well-tempered companions they were meant to be.

Pugs: Ancient Charm, Modern Companions

The Pug is an ancient breed originating in China around 400 B.C., where it was prized as a companion to emperors and often lived under royal protection. These cherished dogs later spread to Japan, Russia, and eventually to Europe in the 16th century, capturing the hearts of royalty such as Queen Victoria of England and Prince William of Orange. Pugs are small, compact dogs typically weighing between 14 to 18 pounds, with a short, glossy coat that comes in fawn, black, silver, or apricot. They are instantly recognizable by their wrinkled, flat-muzzled faces, expressive eyes, and curled tails. Personality-wise, Pugs are known for being charming, affectionate, and sociable—playful but dignified companions who adapt well to various living environments. Fun fact: Chinese breeders intentionally shaped the wrinkles on a Pug’s forehead to resemble the character for “prince” (王), further emphasizing their royal legacy.

Great Pyrenees: Noble Livestock Guardians

Great Pyrenees are instinctively excellent farm guard dogs and are widely used as livestock guardian dogs (LGDs). They were originally bred in the Pyrenees Mountains between France and Spain to protect flocks from predators like wolves and bears. Their territorial nature, strong protective instincts, and nocturnal vigilance make them ideal for farm settings. While they are also great home guardians and protectors of their Human family, they are best suited for farm homesteads and prefer the outdoors where they can roam freely and protect livestock. They are known for their gentle temperament with animals
and children, but they are fiercely defensive against outside threats

Saint Bernards: Courageous Companions

Saint Bernard’s are better suited as house guard dogs rather than farm guard dogs. They were originally bred for Human rescue work by the hospice of the Great ST Bernard Pass on the Italian-Swiss border. While they have a large, intimidating presence and a deep bark that easily deters intruders. Their gentle temperament towards their Human family makes them excellent family dogs and loyal companions, while they also have strong instincts and excel at watchful protection of their Human family against any outside threats. Saints require 24/7 outdoor access but often prefer spending time indoors.

Whelping Plans & Options in 2026

Looking ahead to 2026, we are filled with anticipation for the pitter-patter of little paws! “Whelping” is the term used to describe a dog giving birth, and we have several whelping plans on the horizon. This section will give you an idea of what to expect in terms of new puppies arriving in 2026, and how we manage whelping to ensure every mother and pup gets the best care possible.

Early 2026 – Expected Puppies: If our late 2025 breedings are successful, the first puppies of 2026 will likely be born during the winter of 2026 (likely in January or February). For example, a mating in October/November 2025 would place a due date around Jan/Feb 2026, as dogs’ gestation period is about 63 days. These winter-born puppies would then be ready to go to their new homes by early spring 2026 (after they’ve spent about 10-12 weeks with us growing, socializing, and weaning). We will keep all our waitlisted adopters updated on the progress of the pregnancy and an expected whelp date. Once the litter is born, we’ll announce the happy news, including number of puppies and their sexes/colors, and start sending out those adorable puppy photos to the soon-to-be owners! If you’re on the waitlist, early 2026 could be when you meet your new best friend. It’s a wonderful time – not only for the new puppy families, but for us here at the farm, as we get to nurture a fresh generation of lively little ones.

Additional Litters in 2026: We do plan to continue our measured, responsible breeding schedule through 2026. Typically, WTL aims for one litter in the first half of the year and one in the second half, depending on multiple factors. After the early-year whelping, we anticipate that the next breeding opportunity may be in spring or early summer 2026, which could yield a summer litter. Another breeding in late 2026 is also possible, in line with our goal of 2-3 litters per year maximum. The exact timing will depend on how our females are recovering and cycling, and on demand from qualified adopters. We never rush a dog to breed; each of our mama dogs will get ample time to rest and return to peak condition before having another litter. We also factor in our own schedule to ensure we are present 24/7 during every whelping and the critical newborn period. As always, we will announce specific breeding plans for 2026 as they materialize. Options for prospective adopters: If for some reason you aren’t matched with a puppy from the early 2026 litter, don’t worry – there will be future opportunities in 2026. We maintain an ongoing list of approved adopters, and those folks may choose to remain on the list for the next available litter. We strive to be fair and transparent in how puppies are allocated, matching by the order of applications and also by best fit for each pup’s personality. By having multiple litters spread throughout the year, we aim to give everyone eagerly waiting a chance to bring home a puppy without an excessive wait time, while still doing right by our dogs’ health.

Possible Saint Bernard & Great Pyrenees Puppies: A very exciting possibility for 2026 is the arrival of our first Saint Bernard or Great Pyrenees puppies born here at HRF. Our gentle giants, if bred in late 2025 or early 2026 as mentioned, would whelp later in 2026. Large breed gestation is the same (~63 days), but we tend to be even more watchful with these big moms since litter sizes can be larger and the puppies themselves are bigger! If a Saint or Pyr litter is on the way, we will prepare a specialized whelping area suitable for the size of the mom and pups. We also anticipate a lot of excitement around these breeds – many families have already expressed interest in a well-bred Saint Bernard or Great Pyrenees from our program. If you are one of those interested families, please ensure we have your application on file so we can keep you updated. We cannot guarantee exactly when the first giant breed litter will arrive, but we are hopeful that 2026 will be the year. Just imagine those fluffy Pyrenees pups or the roly-poly Saint Bernard babies – they will be absolutely heart-melting! Rest assured, whether it’s pug puppies or giant breed puppies, the same level of care and screening goes into all our breedings. We want these first HRF giant litters to set a positive example of excellent breed standard and health, just as our Pug litters have.

Our Whelping Process and Puppy Care: No matter the breed, when it’s time for a mama dog to give birth at WTL/HRF, we pull out all the stops to make her comfortable and secure. Whelpings take place in a quiet, climate-controlled area of our home that has been set up specifically for mom and babies. Clean, soft bedding, whelping boxes, and all necessary supplies are prepared in advance. A knowledgeable member of our family is always present to supervise the whelping – often, multiple family members are on hand, because welcoming puppies is both exciting and critical. We monitor the mother throughout her labor, ready to assist if needed (for example, sometimes a puppy might need help getting free of the sac, or need a gentle rub to start breathing). We also have our veterinarian on call in case any complications arise. Fortunately, our careful breeding and the robust health of our moms mean that deliveries usually go smoothly, but we never take any chances. After birth, each puppy is immediately checked to ensure it’s nursing properly and kept warm. The first few weeks after whelping are an intense round-the-clock effort by our family: the mother dog does most of the work (feeding and cleaning her pups), but we supplement her care with our own. We often hand-feed or bottle-feed puppies in addition to mother’s nursing, especially if a pup is smaller or needs extra help to gain weight. Pups are weighed daily to track their growth, and we keep detailed health records for each one. The whelping area is kept meticulously clean and sanitized, while also making sure it’s a soft, loving environment – the puppies actually stay in a part of our home where they get used to normal household sounds and gentle human touch from day one. This early socialization in a home setting is crucial for developing friendly, confident puppies.

We also give a lot of attention to the mama dog’s recovery. A nursing mother puts a lot of energy into her puppies, so we pamper her with a boosted diet, extra fluids, and veterinary check-ups postpartum. Her health and mood are key to the puppies’ well-being. Typically, our puppies remain with their mother and littermates for about 4–6 weeks, after which the mother naturally starts to wean them. We never rush this process, but let it happen on the mom’s own schedule (with some guidance if needed). Once the puppies are around 6 weeks old, they begin the transition to solid foods, and by about 10-12 weeks old they are usually fully weaned, independent, and robust enough to go to their new families. We actually prefer to keep puppies a little longer than the often-seen 8 weeks, because those extra couple of weeks can make a big difference in a pup’s development and manners – they learn a lot from their mom and siblings during that time. By the time adoption day arrives, our puppies have had initial vet exams, their first vaccinations, and plenty of loving socialization. We’ll schedule the pickups with each adopter, and provide guidance on how to continue caring for and training the puppy when you get home.

In summary, 2026 is shaping up to be a year of new beginnings here at Walk The Line & Hard Rock Farm. We might see the arrival of both tiny Pug puppies and large-breed puppies, each one raised with utmost love and professionalism. Our commitment to dog welfare underpins everything: from the moment we plan a breeding, to the day the puppies are born, and until the day they leave with you (and beyond), we are devoted to giving them the best start in life. If you’re as excited as we are about these upcoming whelpings, we invite you to stay in touch – whether that means submitting an adoption application, following our updates on social media, or scheduling a visit when the time comes. We can’t wait to share the joy of newborn puppies with the families who will call them their own!

Thank you for taking the time to read about our upcoming plans. We hope this structured update has been informative and got you as excited as we are for the months ahead. Our dedication to our dogs’ welfare and to our adoptive families remains unwavering – it’s the heart of what we do. Whether you’re waiting for a puppy, planning a visit, or just following our journey, we deeply appreciate your support. Feel free to reach out with any questions or just to say hello. Here’s to a wonderful end of 2025 and an even more wonderful 2026 full of wagging tails and happy tales at Walk The Line Pug Ranch & Hard Rock Farm! 🐾❤️

WALK THE LINE PUG RANCH is an all around very responsible Pure Breed Pug only Breeder whom has an excellent reputation and is well recognized in the North East US for having orchestrated many very happily successful Pug Companionship & Therapy Dog Adoptions… We are also rated #1 on Google as the “Best Pug Breeder In NYS”… We have since the year “2000” compiled comprehensive Pug Experiences in Genetics Research, Breeding, Whelping, Training, General & Veterinary Health Care, Private Rescue, etc.

{FYI, we are also well experienced in Horse Breeding, Care Taking, & Rescue, however this is not directly pertinent to our Pugs World efforts}

{FOR A PREVIEW OF OUR NEW & UPCOMING LITTERS, PLEASE READ ON JUST BELOW THE U-TUBE}

    INTRODUCTION

Walk The Line Pug Ranch typically plans on Breeding for up to (3) litters annually, however for various reason sometimes there are less… These are via different privately owned WTL Dams & Sires that are properly physically readied, mentally prepared & healthily qualified for proper responsible Pug Breeding… The Breeding pair is then appropriately DNA matched in order to throw forward foremost an excellent Health quality, and secondarily the color/s and gender criteria that we are particularly breeding each specific litter to provide… Managing up to three litters annually is the appx. amount which we find that our private extended family is able to properly care for responsibly & also successfully find good qualifying adoptive homes of the higher caliber that WTL seeks for… This in addition to our other Pug Rescue & various Horse Breeding & Rescue activities…

As standard, WTL Pug Breeding Sires & Dams are DNA tested for Orthopedic & Mixed Soft Tissue defects by one of our privately chosen Veterinary facilities. Going forward, we will continue to on occasion use our own privately chosen Veterinarians, and we will also be using the Orthopedic Foundation For Animals to perform these tests on our Breeding Sires & Dams… WTL practices a very well proven healthy & properly DNA matched “Breeding Method” (described in detail under the web site browser tab “Breeding Method”)… We learned our “Breeding Method” several years ago, from a close friend in China who’s family have been Pug Breeders for many generations… All of our Pugs are whelped, raised, & provided for in a very socialized portion of our properly constructed Farm home… The Pugs play, exercise, & are trained outside (weather permitting), in a very safely constructed (5 acre) portion of our (100 acre) Farmstead… All of our Pugs are provided with 24/7 Health Care by our well trained family expert & also with as is properly required or additionally needed routine &/or emergency Veterinary care… All of our Pugs maintain a 24/7 healthy regimen of Human & Pug socialism, exercise, proper Pug Canine diet, proper ambient conditions, etc… All of our Pug puppies are extremely well socialized with their WTL private family Human caretakers and their Pug mom from birth… The pups are kept socialized with the mother until up to (4-6 weeks) of age when it then becomes unsafe to the Dam’s Health to continue… All of our Pug puppies are hand nursed several times daily by us assisting with the mothers and often including bottle support, from birth through weaning @ appx. (4-6 weeks)… After the pups have weaned from mom and up until appx. (10 weeks) of age, the pups are continued to be hand fed by us 3-4 times per day… At the last stage of nutrition weaning from (10 weeks) and then afterwards, the pups are left to feed on their own, however under constant guarded supervision by us… Finally somewhere normally between the ages of (10-12 weeks), the pups nutritional weaning is complete and barring any other weaning set backs, (with hydration or emotional independence) the pups are now readily prepared for their already prepared adopted families take home, Etc…

WTL’s upcoming litters and breeding projections for the year “2019”… Details are posted directly below…

1) WTL had properly orchestrated 2 Pug mating sessions during Mid-April, 2019 & 2 Pug mating sessions during late October, 2019… We were fortunate to make ample time coinciding with our Horse activities, and had adequate weather conditions which all matched up nicely with the appropriately DNA matched & properly prepared mating pair’s Breeding readiness… Unfortunately “Princess Andromeda Macaria’s” April mating did not conceive, however “Princess Athena Melania’s” April mating did conceive and subsequently whelped very healthily on 6/22/2019… It will not be determined for certain whether either or both of the October mating’s will have conceived until sometime later in November, 2019… This will conclude our Pug mating’s for the year 2019…

2) Over the course of the year “2020”, depending on numerous other factors, WTL is intending to Breed for a total of two to three Pug litters… One Pug mating session will be orchestrated for around April and a second maybe 3rd Pug mating session will be orchestrated for around October, via alternative Dams… Natures combination of our Pug Dams Estrus cycles & their voluntary acceptance of the Pug Breeding Sire, in conjunction with safe Breeding weather conditions, can however fluctuate this schedule and also obviously determine the final amount of actual pregnancies, meaning that there could possibly be less than our estimated (3) annual “2020” Pug litters… Once our chosen Dam/s for the Spring & Fall of “2020” have gone into Estrus and completed mating, we will post all of the specific litters information below such as; The Dam’s information, The Sire’s information, The Litters information, Estimated pregnancy & whelping dates, etc…

This will conclude the WTL planned for Pug Breeding for the years “2019” & “2020” unless some of the above planned mating’s do not conceive, then we would potentially have another Breeding at another time during the year if any of the Dams that are healthily prepared can be properly re-readied etc., all things being considered… Further details will be posted at that time… Then after, our next planned for annual one to three Breeding’s will not be until early Spring and Fall, “2021” or sometime thereabouts…

The Dam Andromeda is a black/white Pug and the Sire White Sox is a golden fawn/white Pug with white feet… According to their previous litters together and their adjoined Ancestry, we expect the upcoming litter quantity to be slightly favoring black or black pups with some unique white markings, but a close to even number of fawn pups should also be presented with a total estimated 5 pups… That said, we expect appx. 3 black/white pups and 2 fawn pups…

Under WTL’s  excellent provided Pug care, in conjunction with the Dams and the Sires  great lineage & health conditions, and through God’s Will, we wish these two great Pugs a Healthy Litter, & another  Enjoyable & Memorable Litter Experience together !!!

Thank You

  WALK THE LINE

*** “Princess Andromeda Macaria” 2019 litter update: Due to nature’s hand in the matter, Princess Andromeda’s April 2009 mating session with Romulus White Sox did not impregnate… Due to Andromeda’s age of now being almost 7 years old and as a prevention in order to best safe guard her health, she has been healthily retired from the WTL Breeding program, safely spayed, and will remain in WTL’s private family as a beloved Household Companion…

The Dam, Athena is a silver/black Pug and the Sire, Poseidon is a black/white Pug… Athena’s retired Grandmother “Princess Ivory Snow Alexis” and Athena’s father (still active) Sire “Lord Alpha Spartucus” are pure white, born of a very rare White Pure Breed Pug line Bred by WTL, which took the course of several Pug generations to DNA cross match in order to produce a white blood line… According to their previous litters together adjoined Ancestry, we expect the upcoming litter quantity to be slightly favoring black pups or black/white pups, but a close to even number of fawn or fawn/white pups should also be presented with a total estimated 5 pups… That said, we expect appx. 3 black or black/white pups and 2 fawn pups…

Under WTL’s excellent provided Pug care, in conjunction with the Dams and the Sires  great lineage & health conditions, and through God’s Will, we wish these two great Pugs a Healthy Litter, & an  Enjoyable & Memorable Litter Experience together !!!

Registration & Pedigree Information

Walk The Line Pug’s and Hard Rock Farm’s Noble Giants litters are eligible for official registration based on their purebred heritage. Registrations may be processed through AKC Kennel Club. (United States) the United Kennel Club, (Internationally) CKC Kennel Club, (Canada) or the National General Kennel Club (China), (standard restricted use).

Registration papers are included as a standard part of our Puppy Adoption Packages, provided upon initial request and in compliance with the terms outlined in the case-specific WTL or HRF Adoption Contract. In instances where a spay/neuter agreement is required, registration documents will only be released upon full compliance with that agreement.

Once the adoptive family has submitted all required documentation and the puppy has reached the appropriate age (per the adoption agreement), registration papers are sent via regular U.S. Mail. Additionally, full pedigrees are available upon request and assessed case-by-case for an additional fee.

Commitment to Purebred Excellence

Our canines are strictly purebred, coming from bloodlines that are exceptionally healthy, free of disease, and devoid of congenital defects. Despite common misconceptions, hybrids and mixed breeds often introduce unpredictable and undesirable genetic complications. Only through a well-orchestrated and conscientious purebred breeding program can we ensure the healthiest, most immune-efficient, and genetically sound offspring.

Due to the widespread misuse and irresponsible breeding practices common in the industry, we rarely offer registration papers with breeding rights. However, unrestricted registration may be granted under special circumstances—reserved only for individuals who demonstrate, through our detailed Canine Adoption Application process, either a sound reason or a proven record of responsible breeding experience.

~ Testimonial by Lynda & Kevin Rouser, Massachusetts ~
“We started working with Walk The Line a year ago on the pre-adoption of two puppies. The level of attention and devotion they showed was unparalleled, as if we were the only adoptive family with whom they were working. Their knowledge about the breed and best health care practices are unsurpassed. The gallery was a constant source of delight and amazement as we watched our girls grow from newborns to the 10-wk old wonders we picked up in August, 2012. We could not be more pleased with our decision to pursue an adoption through Walk The Line; our girls are remarkably healthy, spunky, sweet-natured, and simply gorgeous. It was well worth the eight-hour drive to pick them up, and they were gracious enough to spend as much time as we needed to review the comprehensive binder and materials that are included as part of their adoption package. We do not hesitate in recommending and/or referring others to Walk The Line. Thanks for bringing so much joy into our lives! ”

The best of the best! Lynda
