Private NYS Hobby Pure Breed Pug, Great Pyrenees & Saint Bernard Breeder
American Homestead of the Original Ancient Chinese Purebred Pug Heritage Preservationists & The
Farmstead of Our European Gentle Giants

Walk The Line Pug Ranch (WTL) & Hard Rock Farm (HRF) are not a commercial kennel but a private family’s homestead and farmstead. Our dogs live in a healthy, enriched combined Human and dog family-oriented environment, receiving round-the-clock care, socialization, and love.

Our Family’s Commitment

At our private New York State hobby breeding homestead & farmstead, we are passionately dedicated to the preservation, health, and responsible breeding of three remarkable purebred dog breeds: the ancient Chinese Pug, the majestic Great Pyrenees, and the noble Saint Bernard.

  • Pugs, cherished for their playful and affectionate nature, thrive in our carefully maintained indoor setting.
  • Saint Bernards, renowned for their gentle temperament and protective instincts, are raised to embody strength, kindness, and loyalty.
  • Great Pyrenees, naturally skilled in guarding livestock and families alike, are bred with an emphasis on their ancient working dog heritage.

Whether indoors or on our safe, well-guarded farmstead grounds, our dogs enjoy proper nutrition, exercise, companionship, and top-tier veterinary care beyond routine checkups. Every pup is raised to fit seamlessly into a loving and prepared forever home.

We specialize in the Original Ancient Chinese Purebred Pug, with a mission to preserve and enhance this beloved breed’s heritage.

WTL has successfully applied our well-learned Ancient Chinese Pure Breed Pug Breeding Method, a practice that continuously improves desirable Pug genetics while eliminating the undesirable—resulting in healthier, sturdier Pugs of exemplary quality. Since the year “2000”, Our passionate, studies, practices, and achievements have exceled us into recognition as a responsible Quality Pure Breed Pug Breeder, Caretaker, Therapy Dog Trainer, and Pug Health Care & DNA Expert, while also maintaining the Ongoing Preservation and Enhancement of the Original Ancient Chinese Pure Breed Pug Heritage and the Original Pug Breed Standard…./

This we do, in order to provide a superior quality, healthier and more durable Pug Breed, for the fulfillment of adopting them as Companions into “Pug Loving” Family’s Homes, in order to induce the joyful atmosphere and loving companionship that each and every Pug inevitably brings into any responsible and deserving home…./ ….

Our Expanding Mission

Building on our expertise, WTL remains active in promoting Pure Breed White and Brindle Pugs, developed over 20 years of dedicated genetic study. As part of WTL’s continuous growth, HRF now proudly extends our commitment of responsible breeding and superior health care to Saint Bernard’s and Great Pyrenees, bred with equal dedication to preserving their historical lineage. These majestic breeds known for their intelligence, have their own unique temperament and strengths, making them ideal companions for families, therapy work, and even livestock protection in the case of Great Pyrenees. Just as WTL does with Pugs, HRF focuses on maintaining their original breed characteristics by selective breeding and dedicated health care practices, enhancing their genetics, and ensuring they remain the strong, well-tempered companions they were meant to be.

Pugs: Ancient Charm, Modern Companions

The Pug is an ancient breed originating in China around 400 B.C., where it was prized as a companion to emperors and often lived under royal protection. These cherished dogs later spread to Japan, Russia, and eventually to Europe in the 16th century, capturing the hearts of royalty such as Queen Victoria of England and Prince William of Orange. Pugs are small, compact dogs typically weighing between 14 to 18 pounds, with a short, glossy coat that comes in fawn, black, silver, or apricot. They are instantly recognizable by their wrinkled, flat-muzzled faces, expressive eyes, and curled tails. Personality-wise, Pugs are known for being charming, affectionate, and sociable—playful but dignified companions who adapt well to various living environments. Fun fact: Chinese breeders intentionally shaped the wrinkles on a Pug’s forehead to resemble the character for “prince” (王), further emphasizing their royal legacy.

Great Pyrenees: Noble Livestock Guardians

Great Pyrenees are instinctively excellent farm guard dogs and are widely used as livestock guardian dogs (LGDs). They were originally bred in the Pyrenees Mountains between France and Spain to protect flocks from predators like wolves and bears. Their territorial nature, strong protective instincts, and nocturnal vigilance make them ideal for farm settings. While they are also great home guardians and protectors of their Human family, they are best suited for farm homesteads and prefer the outdoors where they can roam freely and protect livestock. They are known for their gentle temperament with animals
and children, but they are fiercely defensive against outside threats

Saint Bernards: Courageous Companions

Saint Bernard’s are better suited as house guard dogs rather than farm guard dogs. They were originally bred for Human rescue work by the hospice of the Great ST Bernard Pass on the Italian-Swiss border. While they have a large, intimidating presence and a deep bark that easily deters intruders. Their gentle temperament towards their Human family makes them excellent family dogs and loyal companions, while they also have strong instincts and excel at watchful protection of their Human family against any outside threats. Saints require 24/7 outdoor access but often prefer spending time indoors.

“We started working with Walk The Line a year ago on the pre-adoption of two puppies. The level of attention and devotion they showed was unparalleled, as if we were the only adoptive family with whom they were working. Their knowledge about the breed and best health care practices are unsurpassed. The gallery was a constant source of delight and amazement as we watched our girls grow from newborns to the 10-wk old wonders we picked up in August, 2012. We could not be more pleased with our decision to pursue an adoption through Walk The Line; our girls are remarkably healthy, spunky, sweet-natured, and simply gorgeous. It was well worth the eight-hour drive to pick them up, and they were gracious enough to spend as much time as we needed to review the comprehensive binder and materials that are included as part of their adoption package. We do not hesitate in recommending and/or referring others to Walk The Line. Thanks for bringing so much joy into our lives! ”

And now, we’re introducing;

Walk The Line has proudly expanded its heritage-focused breeding program with our extended family Hard Rock Farm to include two of the world’s most noble and storied canine companions: the Great Pyrenees and the Saint Bernard… These majestic working breeds—known for their loyalty, intelligence, and devotion to family—are now being raised alongside our beloved Pugs using the same proven, time-honored breeding methods and hands-on care that have defined our program since “2000”…

As with our Pugs Homestead, our Great Pyrenees and Saint Bernard puppies are whelped and nurtured in the heart of our Farmstead, where they thrive in a safe, healthy, and loving environment… Each pup is a product of generations of expertise in canine health, socialization, and temperament-building, ensuring that these large-breed companions mature into steady, affectionate, and protective members of the family or farm…

This addition reinforces our steadfast mission: to preserve the heritage and health of the breeds we steward—whether ancient Chinese Pug, Alpine rescuer Saint Bernard, or mountain guardian Great Pyrenees—and to provide adoptive families with exceptional companions raised in a truly “family-first” setting…

For our extended family of dog lovers, this expansion means more opportunities to find the perfect furry companion… Whether you’re searching for a petite, mischievous Pug or a big, cuddly Saint Bernard or Great Pyrenees, our farm now offers diverse breeds – all raised with the same philosophy of love, care, and respect… We are very excited about this new chapter, and we’ll keep everyone updated on upcoming litters of both our small and large breeds…

If you have any questions about our breeding program or the breeds we work with, we’re always happy to chat! “QUICK QUERY” – Thank you for believing in our mission as we grow…

“Dreamer” is the third song featured on Ozzy Osbourne’s 2001 album Down to Earth. Upon release, it climbed to the tenth spot on the Billboard chart for mainstream rock tracks in the United States. The lyrics reflect Osbourne’s somber view of how humanity is contributing to the planet’s downfall. In the commentary for his Prince of Darkness box set, he likens the track to John Lennon’s Imagine. The single’s editions in Japan and Europe also include an alternate acoustic version of the song, along with a previously unreleased track titled “Black Skies.”

~WALK THE LINE PUG RANCH~ & ~HARD ROCK FARM~

Welcome to our small private family Homestead / Farmstead….., With over 25 years experience working with wonderful Pugs, we are a family group with four generations of experienced dog lovers in our Homestead who have become well-learned Pug Health Care Advocates, working together as Hobby Pure Breed Pug Breeders, Pug Therapy Dog Trainers, Pug Caretakers, Private Pug Rescue, and Ancient Chinese Pure Breed Pug Heritage Preservationists ….., Our legacy of excellence and compassion now proudly extends to the noble and majestic breeds of the Great Pyrenees and Saint Bernard….., We are small family-run Farmstead (not a commercial kennel) who since 2000 have remained steadfast in our pursuit of excellence and are passionately dedicated to the day to day care, preservation, and conscientious breeding of these wonderful Breeds, as we share our lives together….., Our mission is to raise healthy, happy dogs with rich heritage and outstanding temperaments, as cherished family companions….., Each puppy is born and raised right in our home and on our farmstead, surrounded by love from day one….., Through responsible breeding, dedicated health care, enriching environments, and thoughtful adoption processes, we continue to persevere in promoting these magnificent breeds in all aspects of what we do for the fulfillment of adopting them as Companions to “Dog Loving Families,” in order to induce the joyful atmosphere and loving companionship that our dogs inevitably bring to any responsible and deserving home…..,

While our roots began with the beloved Pug, we have expanded our heartfelt commitment to include the responsible care, preservation, and conscientious breeding of the Great Pyrenees and Saint Bernard….., These two breeds, known for their gentle nature, historical working roles, and deep bonds with humans, have captured our dedication to breed heritage, health standards, and therapeutic companionship….., Our expansion is rooted in the same philosophy that guided our Pug program—a belief that intentional breeding methods and deeply integrated home care create stronger, healthier dogs of all breeds…..,

We remain passionately dedicated to the preservation of the Ancient Chinese Pure Breed Heritage of the Original Pug Breed….., This is reflected in our unique “Breeding Method” which produces superior quality Pugs of exemplary health, contributing to a more durable and vibrant lineage….., Likewise, our care and understanding of the Great Pyrenees and Saint Bernard are shaped by thorough research and firsthand experience, supported by our generations of hands-on learning and commitment to excellence…..,

Our Farmstead Philosophy and Approach

Located in North Central New York State within our private family Homestead / Farmstead, Our decades of experience (dating back to 2000) have taught us that dogs thrive when they are raised with love in a home environment where every dog lives in harmony with a family that is fully devoted to their physical and emotional health, not in a kennel….., That’s why all of our Pugs, Saint Bernards, and Great Pyrenees are raised and live in our house and on our farmstead as part of our family….., Our Quality Purebred Pugs are whelped, raised and cared for 24/7 in our large appropriately constructed & well sheltered family room atmosphere, within of our private family Homestead during inclement weather & night time….., During fair weather days, they enjoy supervised play and stimulation on the safe, guarded grounds of our Farmstead….., Likewise, our majestic Great Pyrenees and gentle giant Saint Bernard’s are whelped, raised, cared for and supervised on our Farmstead grounds, with 24/7 access to our Homestead’s large appropriately constructed and segregated family room…..,

From puppyhood, all our dogs experience the rhythms of family life – the sounds of laughter in the living room, the smells of home-cooked meals, and the gentle affection of human touch….., This constant, caring environment means our pups are well-socialized with adults, children, and other animals, fostering gentle temperaments and confident, happy personalities….., Our dogs welfare is also supported by social interaction, structured training, clean environments, and ongoing properly trained medical care provided by experienced human caregivers and veterinary professionals.….,

We take a holistic, hands-on approach to raising our dogs:

  • 24/7 Care and Socialization: Someone from our family is always with the dogs, ensuring round-the-clock care. Puppies grow up underfoot alongside us – playing with our kids, meeting visitors, and even mingling (under supervision) with their smaller or larger canine “siblings…” This early socialization in a “real home” atmosphere helps them seamlessly adjust to family life in their future adoptive homes…
  • Health and Wellness: We practice diligent health care for every dog… All puppies and parents receive regular veterinary checkups, vaccinations, and preventive screenings (for example, we check our large breeds’ hips and joints, and monitor our Pugs’ respiratory health)… We go above and beyond routine vet care – if any dog needs special attention or emergency care, we provide it immediately… A nutritious diet is tailored to each breed’s needs (from the Pug’s diet to maintain a healthy weight, to the Saint Bernard’s and Pyrenees’ diet for strong bones and coat)… We ensure they get daily exercise appropriate for their size: our Pugs enjoy playtime and short romps in the yard, while our Great Pyrenees patrol the farm’s perimeter and our Saint Bernards lumber around for fun and exercise… All dogs have ample space to run and play, fresh air, and a clean, safe habitat. We also give them plenty of mental enrichment, affection, and rest. Our commitment is to raise robust, thriving dogs with excellent quality of life…
  • Love and Individual Attention: Because we are a small-scale homestead, each dog gets individual attention and tons of love… Whether it’s cuddle time on the couch or supervised outdoor adventures, we know each dog’s personality and needs… Pugs, Saints, and Pyrs each have different requirements and we adapt to them – for instance, on a hot day, the Pugs and Saint Bernards might relax in the shade or air-conditioned home (to avoid overheating), while the Great Pyrenees might choose to lounge outside, ever watchful… Our family’s daily routine revolves around making sure every dog is happy, comfortable, and confident… We truly treat them as part of our extended family…

Preservation of Breed Heritage and Health

We have proudly expanded our breeding program to include (2) new members of our canine family! For over 20 years, Walk The Line Pug Ranch has focused on the ancient Chinese Pug lineage, developing healthy, happy Pugs with excellent temperament… Now, under Hard Rock Farm, we are extending that same level of love and expertise to the “Gentle Giants” – specifically Great Pyrenees and Saint Bernards… This expansion is a major milestone for us, and we want to share what it means for the farm and our supporters…

We are not just raising dogs; we are preserving heritage and improving breed health with each generation….., Each of our three breeds has a storied background, and we feel a deep responsibility to honor and continue those legacies:

  • Pugs – Ancient Chinese Royalty: Our journey began with Pugs and our commitment to Pug heritage remains as strong as ever, they remain at the heart of our homestead… Pugs are an ancient breed that originated in China around 400 B.C., where they were treasured companions of emperors… We have been dedicated to the Pug breed for over two decades (since the year 2000), striving to uphold the original Chinese Pug lineage and traits… As heritage preservationists for this breed, we even specialize in rare purebred Pug colors (our line of white and brindle Pugs took over 20 years of careful breeding to develop)… Through a unique, well-researched breeding program focused on genetic health, we have continually improved desirable traits and minimized health issues in our Pug lines… This means our Pug puppies tend to have exemplary health, sound structure, and the loving temperament that make Pugs such joyful companions… Each Pug puppy is raised by its mother in our home with 24/7 care, ensuring they get the best start in life… We take pride in producing “Pugs of Distinction” – dogs that truly represent the best of this ancient breed, with correct conformation and lively, affectionate personalities…
  • Introducing Great Pyrenees – Majestic Guardians: Our family has expanded to include the Great Pyrenees, and they quickly have became an integral part of our homestead… The Great Pyrenees (or “Pyr”) is a noble working breed with roots in the Pyrenees Mountains between France and Spain, traditionally used as livestock guardian dogs… We fell in love with their loyalty, gentleness, and natural protectiveness… Our Great Pyrenees are of excellent heritage – we often call them our “European gentle giants” – carrying the proud legacy of generations of farm guardians. In our breeding program, we emphasize the preservation of the Pyr’s instincts and strengths: their calm confidence, strong guardian instincts, and kind heart… Our Pyrenees have plenty of space on the farmstead to roam and do what they do best – patrol the grounds and watch over everyone (human and animal alike) with patience and vigilance… By raising them in a family setting, we ensure these historically working dogs also develop into affectionate family companions… Our Great Pyrenees puppies are whelped and raised with the same hands-on care as our Pugs – they roam our farmyard under supervision, get lots of socialization with people and other animals, and grow up strong and confident… The pups grow up experiencing both the great outdoors and the cozy indoors, so whether they go on to guard a farm or simply be a family’s gentle protector, they are well prepared… We are committed to maintaining the Great Pyrenees’ legendary lineage and health… That includes selective breeding for sound hips and joints, thick weatherproof coats, and stable, gentle temperaments… Seeing a Great Pyrenees that we’ve raised standing proudly in a field, white coat shining and tail wagging as it keeps watch over children playing, is a testament to the breed’s heritage and our careful stewardship of it…
  • Welcoming Saint Bernards – Gentle Alpine Giants: We now also proudly breed and raise Saint Bernards, another classic European breed that has captured our hearts… Saint Bernards originated in the Swiss Alps at the famous hospice of the Great Saint Bernard Pass, where they were bred by monks for rescue work – locating and saving travelers lost in snowstorms… Today’s Saint Bernard is known as the ultimate gentle giant, and our Saints live up to that reputation… They are enormous in size but have an even bigger heart: patient, affectionate, and deeply loyal to their people… On our homestead, the Saint Bernards are the cuddly guardians of our Homestead – often found sprawled at our feet in the evening or carefully watching over the children with their soulful, gentle eyes… We focus on preserving the Saint Bernard’s kind disposition and imposing yet friendly presence… Our breeding pairs are chosen for health (including strong hips/elbows and cardiac health), temperament, and adherence to the classic Saint Bernard look… Because Saints thrive on being with their “pack,” raising them in our family home (rather than in a kennel run) means our Saint Bernard puppies develop excellent house manners and a loving, people-oriented nature… They have regular supervised outdoor time too – Saints love a romp in the snow or a nap on the cool porch – but they always know they are foremost members of the family… By nurturing their inherent heroic and loving qualities, we produce Saint Bernard companions that are not only impressive to behold but are also reliable, gentle friends to both children and adults… Each slobbery Saint puppy we raise carries the legendary Alpine rescue heritage into a modern context as a devoted family protector…

Through all of our breeding work, responsibility and conscience guide us….., We adhere to breed standards and never compromise on health or temperament just for looks….., Every mating is carefully planned – we consider genetic diversity, health clearances, and how a pairing will improve the breed….., Conscientious breeding for us means:

  • Only breeding dogs that are mature, healthy, and exemplify the best of their breed (in structure, behavior, and genetics)…
  • Performing recommended health screenings for each breed (for example, genetic tests for Pug-specific conditions, and orthopedic exams for the giant breeds)…
  • Limiting the number of litters and giving mama dogs plenty of time to rest and recover, ensuring they remain healthy and happy…
  • Keeping puppies with their mother and littermates for an appropriate time (we never rush a puppy away; they stay with mom and siblings to learn important social skills until they are truly ready to transition to a new home)…
  • Staying educated on breed research and health developments, so we can continuously improve our program…

Our family’s multi-generational knowledge is poured into every puppy’s upbringing. We have honed our practices over many years, and the results speak for themselves: robust, well-adjusted Pugs, Great Pyrenees, and Saint Bernards that embody the spirit and heritage of their breeds while enjoying excellent health and longevity….., We view our work as a form of heritage preservation – especially for our Pugs, where we maintain an ancient bloodline, but equally so for our Pyrenees and Saints, where we uphold their time-honored roles and traits in a loving modern setting.….,

From Our Home to Yours: Placing Puppies in Loving Families

Because our dogs mean the world to us, we are very selective about adoption….., Our goal is to match each puppy with a forever home that will treasure them as much as we do….., Whether it’s a tiny Pug or a giant Saint Bernard, every puppy raised here leaves with a bit of our heart and a lifetime commitment from us to their well-being.….,

When you adopt from our homestead, you’re not just getting a superior-quality purebred dog – you’re gaining a family companion raised with love, and you’re joining our extended dog family….., We ensure each new family is well-prepared and shares our philosophy of caring for their dog as a family member….., We only place puppies into responsible, loving homes that can provide adequate space, proper care, and financial stability for the dog’s entire life….., If that means turning away a potential buyer, we will – the welfare of our dogs always comes first.….,

Before our puppies go home, they are vet-checked, vaccinated, and microchipped, (upon request)….., New owners receive a very thorough documentation of our dogs past health care and ongoing health care protocols, a mutually fair and legal responsible adoption contract, in addition to our ongoing support….., We love to stay in touch with our puppy families and are always available for questions or guidance, whether it’s about training tips, diet, or just to share updates and photos….., In many cases, adopters become like friends or family – connected by the mutual love of these wonderful dogs.….,

Our homestead’s unique approach truly shines when you meet the dogs themselves….., Visitors are often amazed to see Pugs prancing happily at our feet, a Great Pyrenees or two calmly surveying the yard, and perhaps a massive Saint Bernard trying to climb into someone’s lap for a hug! Despite their differences in size and history, all of our dogs coexist like one big, happy family….., They respect and learn from each other – it’s not unusual to find a gentle Pyrenees licking a tiny Pug pup clean, or a wise old Pug curling up next to a Saint Bernard to snooze….., This nurturing, communal environment shapes puppies that are confident, friendly, and adaptable….., When they join your home, they adjust quickly to family life because it’s all they’ve ever known.….,

In every puppy we raise, we instill a bit of our homestead’s heart….., We aim for our Pug puppies to bring endless snuggles and silliness, our Saint Bernard pups to offer gentle loyalty and warmth, and our Great Pyrenees pups to provide steadfast protection and devotion….., Watching them grow under our care and then seeing them flourish in their new homes is the ultimate reward for us.….,

Ultimately, our family homestead is built on love, respect, and a vision of excellence for Pugs, Great Pyrenees, and Saint Bernards….., We cherish the health, heritage, and happiness of each breed, and we are devoted to raising dogs the right way – in a home, as part of a family, with all the love and care they deserve….., If you are looking for a new four-legged family member, we welcome you to reach out, visit our farm, and share in the warmth and dedication that define our homestead….., Here, every day is an adventure filled with wagging tails, muddy paws, and heartwarming moments – a testament to the incredible bond between our family and our dogs….., We are excited to share that joy and commitment with you, and to help you find the perfect Pug, Great Pyrenees, or Saint Bernard to join your own loving home.….,

Our ongoing goal is to continue to excel into recognition as a Quality Pure Breed Dog Breeder, Caretaker, Therapy Dog Trainer, and Original Pure Breed Heritage Preservationist, by making our best efforts in the overall preservation and ongoing enhancement of the Breed Standard…..,

Walk The Line Pug Ranch & Hard Rock Farm endeavor to persevere in promoting the Breed’s Standards in all aspects of what we do….., Part of this our responsibility, is accomplished by the selective adoption of our Pugs as life long family companions, only into worthy, responsibly, and financially prepared Dog Loving Homes that are apparently able to properly provide for the shelter, Veterinarian assisted physical and mental health care, socialism, exercise, and overall proper general provisions of a “Warm Dog Rich Family Environment”

Registration & Pedigree Information

Walk The Line Pug’s and Hard Rock Farm’s Noble Giants litters are eligible for official registration based on their purebred heritage. Registrations may be processed through AKC Kennel Club. (United States) the United Kennel Club, (Internationally) CKC Kennel Club, (Canada) or the National General Kennel Club (China), (standard restricted use).

Registration papers are included as a standard part of our Puppy Adoption Packages, provided upon initial request and in compliance with the terms outlined in the case-specific WTL or HRF Adoption Contract. In instances where a spay/neuter agreement is required, registration documents will only be released upon full compliance with that agreement.

Once the adoptive family has submitted all required documentation and the puppy has reached the appropriate age (per the adoption agreement), registration papers are sent via regular U.S. Mail. Additionally, full pedigrees are available upon request and assessed case-by-case for an additional fee.

Commitment to Purebred Excellence

Our canines are strictly purebred, coming from bloodlines that are exceptionally healthy, free of disease, and devoid of congenital defects. Despite common misconceptions, hybrids and mixed breeds often introduce unpredictable and undesirable genetic complications. Only through a well-orchestrated and conscientious purebred breeding program can we ensure the healthiest, most immune-efficient, and genetically sound offspring.

Due to the widespread misuse and irresponsible breeding practices common in the industry, we rarely offer registration papers with breeding rights. However, unrestricted registration may be granted under special circumstances—reserved only for individuals who demonstrate, through our detailed Canine Adoption Application process, either a sound reason or a proven record of responsible breeding experience.

~ Testimonial by Lynda & Kevin Rouser, Massachusetts ~

The best of the best! Lynda
