THE INCREDIBLE – “JIMMY FALLON”
=====================================================================================================================================================================================
Walk The Line’s recommended potty training basics are:
1) Always have 2 designated potty locations set up for your Pug, one indoors for inclement weather and one outside for good weather. Until fully trained take your Pug to both of these locations alternating & weather appropriate, and ONLY THESE 2 LOCATIONS! Puppies up until a minimum of (6) months old should always be trained indoors in temperatures that are any less than 65 Fh. Puppies ambient temperatures should always be treated as a Human Baby! Puppies that are Winter trained indoors, acclimate very quickly to the outdoors once the weather allows for the transition. Older Pugs outdoor training must be considered similar to a small child as far as their susceptability to hot & cold ambient temperatures. No walks to any other locations until after fully trained & also not until after completing all of the recommended Puppy Shot Regimen! If you want to walk, then walk where it is safe & regimental, in the same place within your yard until after fully trained. Remember to always walk on a harness & not on a neck collar!
2) Always train/house your Pug in a well trafficked area of the home such as kitchen, family room, etc. DO NOT potty train in some remote location of the home such as the basement, a bathroom, or any closet type space. This teaches them after they are trained & on the occasions when can’t get outside, to not just go to some remote part of the house whenever they want to go, leaving you to find the surprise that was left days later.
3) Take your Pug to only one of it’s 2 designated potty areas every time, shortly after eating by watching his/her gotta go signs & also regimentally every 4 hours. Come up with & always use the same potty phrase such as “Lets Go Potty”. Pugs learn by loving encouraging repetitive regimen, not by yelling at them!
4) Always stay with your untrained Pug during potty in order to make sure that they go, that the poop & urine is normal colors & consistency, & that they don’t do the nasty & eat their poop. Always make sure to praise them after they go, and you can use a handful of their kibble as a reward, no treats unless your Pug is over one years old!
5) Do not use pee pads inside unless you have the pad holder because your Pug will eat them and potentially choke, or cause digestive tract impaction which can be fatal. Use either newspapers or preferably white human bath towels if you can manage the laundry. Outside the best area is a short well cut grassy area (within your protected area) with preferably an appropriately applied Pet safe bug/pest treatment. 6) Feed your Pug only Walk The Line’s case specific recommended chow. The basic chow is always a particular recipe of “Taste Of The Wild” with occasional case specific guidelines ort additives, etc. Pugs are to be fed regimentally 2-3 times daily at about the same time, every day. Pugs under 6 months old feed 3 times daily & Pugs over 6 months old are to be fed only twice daily. The quantity to be fed per day is gauged by Pugs weight & age right on the “Taste Of The Wild” food bag. If we feel for any reason that your case specific Pugs chow quantity should be any different than the standard, then we would notify you at the adoption.
7) DO NOT change your Pugs chow, this creates havoc on their digestive system, disenabling them from having any bowel control whatsoever and can also create deadly Diarrhea & Dehydration. What you THINK that you are saving on your Pugs chow by buying some other “CHEAPER” Brand, will more than cost you in the long run on unnecessary Vet bills, an unhappier, unhealthier Pug, and most likely a Pug with a dramatically shorter life span. This is NOT JARGIN! Please do your diligence on this very crucial subject! Do not feed any other treats, chews, human foods, etc! Just Walk The Line’s recommended Pug Chow until at least one year old. After one years old we have provided a complete safe & beneficial list of treats, dietary additives, human foods, etc. within your Adoption Take Home Pug Health Care Documentation.
8) If you use a crate training method, make sure that the crate is an Canine industry sized Large or extra large for in the home & a medium sized for in the car. Some recommend a divided crate, we do not. Segregate an if need be potty area in the back of the crate & keep the bedding area towards the front. The crate is to be trained as their “Happy Place”, their safe haven, their R&R location, etc. NEVER use their crate as a place to lock them down for punishment location. Pugs for that matter should never be punished ANYWHERES! When they are being reprimanded, they should be put in their family room or kitchen location cordoned off from the open home, and not allowed in their crate, and this should be only for a very short period of time. DO NOT EVER put your Pug in an isolation area such as a closet, bathroom, basement, etc! After the brief reprimand is over, immediately cuddle your pug & let them know that you still love them & allow them access back to their crate.
9) NEVER HIT, scold harshly, yell at your Pug! You always train a Pug by praise & regimen, by rewarding the positive, not by scolding their accidents. If you ever want your Pug to learn, love, & respect you, the worst behavior that is appropriate on your part is a loud stern voice.
